So, I guess I’ll just jump right into this with the easiest of my potential topics, my triathlon training.
There’s been a nasty bug going around this area. It seems to be hitting both my campus and GreenTriBoy’s office pretty hard, so our apartment is pretty much a maelstrom of germs at this point. One of the cats has even been acting a little out of it. There’s a chance I’m projecting here.
At any rate, one of the symptoms is extended periods of dizziness. I was down with that most of last week, and then had a nasty bout of insomnia this weekend, so I haven’t really done any working out other than yoga. The bug was slow coming on, too, so I was taking it a bit easy with the training before that.
Well, tomorrow is it. It’s time to get back in the saddle, and I’m NERVOUS. I have a pilates class in the morning and a swim workout planned for the evening, but I really want to do 3 miles or so on the treadmill, since that’s the sport I lose most quickly if I don’t do it regularly. I’m already getting a bit nervous about what it’s going to feel like hitting treadmill in eleven hours. Ugh.
In related news, I made a spring cleaning self-improvement resolution: March is my month of being on TOP of things. I started off by cleaning the apartment top to bottom, reorganizing all the files on my laptop, and purging the clothes I haven’t worn in about a year. Tomorrow I’m taking the rejects to the consignment shop. I also developed a new system of to-do lists (my lifeline, seriously).
It’s only been two days, but I’m feeling good about the resolution so far, so it’s just going to be up to me to make training part of that. It’s so hard to be kind to your body some days, and other days it’s so hard to show it the necessary amount of tough love.
